Abstract:
The study was conducted to determine the extent of positive outcomes of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in La Trinidad, Benguet. Specifically, it sought to determine the extent of positive outcomes 4P’s beneficiaries in terms of economic sufficiency and social adequacy, and the difference of the outcomes of 4Ps as to family structure, family size, and age of household head.
The study was conducted in La Trinidad, Benguet on December 2014 to February 2015 with fifty (50) respondents from the barangays of Bahong, Puguis, Shilan, Wangal, and Tawang. The quantitative descriptive research method was used with the questionnaire as the data gathering instrument. Furthermore, the statistical methods used were weighted mean, T-test, and F-test.
Based on the results, it was revealed that there is a moderate improvement in the extent of outcomes of 4Ps according to economic sufficiency. There is also a high improvement on the extent of outcomes of 4Ps in terms of social adequacy. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in the outcomes of 4Ps as to family structure, family size, and age of the household head.
Based on the findings, it is concluded that the beneficiaries of 4P’s in La Trinidad have improved moderately as to economic sufficiency. Moreover, the beneficiaries of 4Ps in La Trinidad have improved highly in terms of social adequacy. The outcomes of 4Ps are not affected by the family structure, family size, and age of the household head.
It is recommended that further study must be conducted to rural areas to compare the results from urban areas. The 4Ps must help in developing housing construction and ownership, and a safe housing including scheduled check-ups and maintenance of housing structure and safety. Furthermore, the 4Ps should provide vocational occupations to the beneficiaries whose household heads were not employed regularly. The 4Ps beneficiaries must comply with the conditions to enhance the impact of the program. The local government and other relevant agencies must also give their full support to the program to attain the goals of the 4Ps. In addition, the implementation of the 4P’s must be strengthened to decrease the rate of poverty. Further studies must be conducted to determine the factors on why were the outcomes not affected by the family size.
