Abstract:
The study was conducted to compare the growth performance, carcass characteristics and economic return of swine fed with two brands of commercial feeds. Sixteen 45 days old weaner pigs from two liters were randomly distributed into two treatments. The control group (T0) was fed with Pigrolac and the experimental group (T1) was feed with High N feeds.
Results of the study showed that there were no significant differences in growth performance of the two treatments in terms of final weight, average daily gain, and feed conversion ratio. There were also no significant differences in the carcass characteristics of the treatments in terms of dressing percentage and loin eye area. T1 had a significantly thinner backfat as compared to T0 however, both treatments had average backfat thickness within the standard. Economic analysis showed no significant difference between the two treatments in terms of net profit earned.
