Abstract:
Sixty eight confirmed positive cases of Classical Swine Fever were studied and analyzed to determine the animal profile, spatial distribution and temporal pattern of Classical Swine Fever in the Province of Benguet from 2009-2015.
Results show that majority of the affected animals from 2009-2015 were aged six months and above (72.06%). The number of affected females and males were equal with a percentage of 23.53%.
The trend on Classical Swine Fever decreases from 2009-2015. The highest number of occurrence was recorded in 2009 with 27 cases which drastically decrease to only two cases in 2010. A slight increase in 2011 with nine cases and another fall in 2012 with only five cases are shown. Consecutive increases in cases since 2012 until 2014 with 13 cases was observed. Finally there was a fall in the trend in 2015 with only three reported cases. Further, most of the cases occurred in the month of August and September.
The disease was distributed to the municipalities of Tublay, La Trinidad, Tuba, Atok, Mankayan, Itogon, and Baguio City.
