Abstract:
This study was conducted to determine the effect of sprayable plant nutrient supplement
and humic acid on the growth and yield of cabbage and on some soil properties; determine the
interaction effect of sprayable plant nutrient supplement and humic acid on the growth and yield
of cabbage and on some soil properties; and determine the return on cash expenses (ROCE).
The application of different rates of sprayable plant nutrient supplement significantly
affected the marketable and total yields. Plots applied with 60 ml/L of water produced the highest
marketable yield, total yield, average head weight, solidity of the cabbage, computed yield, return
on cash expenses (ROCE), and less number of days from transplanting to head formation.
Likewise, the use of sprayable plant nutrient supplement favorably enhanced the water holding
capacity of the soil, organic matter content of the soil, and available phosphorous of the soil.
Significant differences were observed on the number of days from transplanting to head
formation, average head weight, marketable yield, total yield, computed yield per hectare, bulk
density, water holding capacity, organic matter, and available phosphorous as affected by
applicaton of different rates of humic acid. The application of humic acid at the rate of 9 ml/L of
water increased the return on cash expense (ROCE).
Likewise, no significant differences were observed on nonmarketable yield and exchangeable
potassium content of the soil as affected by application of different rates of humic acid The application of sprayable plant nutrient supplement and humic acid had significant
interaction effect on marketable yield, total yield, and return on cash expense (ROCE). Plots
applied witth 60 ml/L of water of sprayable plant nutrient supplement with combination with 9
ml/L of water of humic acid registered the highest marketable yield, total yield, and return on cash
expense.
