Abstract:
This study was conducted in Tabangaoen, Balili La Trinidad Benguet from January to February 2016, to determine the profile of the respondents, the motivational factors of membership in the cooperative, the alternative membership options that are available in the community, the benefits of membership derived from the cooperative, problems and issues encountered by the respondents towards membership in the cooperative.
The sources of data in the study were the 100 respondents who were chosen randomly. The data were gathered through survey questionnaire.
The motivational factors that motivated respondents in joining membership is to have their own personal account and for the safety of their money. Most respondents were motivated to join membership for them to avail loans and credit at the cooperative store and majority of them are highly motivated by their parents.
With the benefits derived from the cooperative towards membership, most of the members are highly benefited by the dividends pay-out that are distributed at the end of the year followed by the benefits for death aid assistance that for any deceased member is entitled of P 5,000.00.
Other alternative institution available in the community where most respondents preferred to join is the Benguet State University Multi-purpose Cooperative because requirements are easy to comply and most of their friends are members in the said cooperative.
The major problem encountered by the members is that they cannot apply membership for other family members or relatives.
