Abstract:
The study on profile of registered businesses in Tuba, Benguet was conducted to determine the profile of registered business in the locality. The study aimed to determine the growth of businesses according to gross receipt amount of capital and number of employees; and to determine the problems encountered by the business and their perceived solutions.
The secondary data was obtained from the office of the Department of Trade and Industry. The primary data needed were gathered through a personal interview with the respondents in 15 barangay of Tuba, Benguet.
In this study, the data revealed that there are only 1,034 registered businesses in Tuba. Phelix Mines had a total of 230 businesses which is the highest among the 15 barangay while Ansagan had the least total number of businesses. It was observed that convenience store is dominant business sector in all the barangay with a total number of 536.
In further observation, businesses experience an increase and decrease of gross receipts, amount of capital and employees starting 2011 until the end of 2015. The leading barangay that increases its gross receipts Tadiangan while Poblacion tremendously decrease.
The sources of employment are mostly from the family members while other business owners prefer to hire employees to help them in operating the business. As the businesses expand its operation the number of employees increased from 2011 to the end of 2015.
In production the major problem is the high cost of raw material whereas the perceived solution is to coordinate and make linkage with other business organization. The common problem in marketing is the decrease in market demand and the perceived solution is to coordinate and make linkage with other business organization and the problem in financial is limited source of capital and he perceived solution is to prepare yearly budget and strictly implement it.
