Abstract:
The experiment was conducted at the Organic Demo Farm, Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet, from January to April 2016 to: 1) determine the influence of different rates of Banana Bract Extract on organic carrot production; 2) determine some physical and chemical properties of soil as influenced by different rates of banana bract extract; and, 3) to determine the economics of banana bract extract on carrot production.
Application of 25 tbsp banana bract extract per L of H2O gave the highest marketable yield of carrot per plot.
Application of the different rates of banana bract extract lowered the bulk density and improved the organic matter, organic nitrogen, available phosphorous and exchangeable potassium content of the soil. However in terms of return on cash expense (ROCE), application of the different rates of banana bract extract had the lowest return on cash expense.
