Abstract:
This study comparative analysis on the cost and return of organic and conventional production practices of strawberry in La Trinidad, Benguet was conducted primarily to analyze profitability and document production practices employed by the farmers in the selected barangays of La Trinidad.
There were three respondents interviewed in organic farming and 11 respondents interviewed in conventional farming. A prepared survey questionnaire was used as a guide.
The farmers produce or buy their runners because they want to improve the variety they are planting and they want high yielding variety. Most of the respondents used black plastic as mulching. The source of irrigation is the irrigation canal.
The major problems met by the farmers on their production activity were; typhoons, not enough clean water, capital/expenses, attack of pest and diseases, price fluctuation and too much farm input/expensive.
