Abstract:
The study was conducted to determine the best rate of banana bracts compost on the yield of Romaine lettuce, effect of banana bracts compost on some soil physico-chemical properties and the economic value of banana bracts compost on Romaine lettuce production.
General observation on the effect of the different rates of banana bracts compost on plants was significantly affected the yield of Romaine lettuce.
Application of banana bracts compost at a rate of 20 tons/ha produced the highest yield of Romaine lettuce.
Applications of different rates of banana bracts compost increased the soil pH, organic matter, organic nitrogen content, available phosphorus and exchangeable potassium content of the soil. Banana bracts compost applied at a rate of 20 tons/ha resulted to higher chemical properties of the soil.
Application of banana bracts compost improved the bulk density of the soil.
