Abstract:
The study on pesticide management practices of vegetable farmers in barangay Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet was conducted to determine the general profile of the respondents, the pesticide management practices, the perception of farmers on the effects of pesticide usage and the problems encountered in the use of pesticides.
The needed information was gathered through the use of survey questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the frequencies and percentages.
Majority of the respondents belong to the age bracket of 41 and above and had formal education. Respondents are practicing multiple cropping and considered the occurrence of insect pest and diseases as a major problem.
The data gathered indicate that the farmer- respondents used the yellow and green color bands pesticides and consider pest population attacking their crops when applying pesticide. Farmers seek information on pesticide usage from agricultural technician.
With regards to pesticide management practices, the respondents practice cocktailing of pesticide and fungicide for double action. Respondents are dependent on pesticide to have a higher production and increase profit.
