Abstract:
The pandemic has brought about new teaching methods to maximize the use of technology in fulfilling the learning demands of nursing courses. The College of Nursing utilized online platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, Facebook page, and Facebook Messenger in delivering learning which affected the confidence of the graduating nurse learners in performing the different nursing skills on advancing to staff nurse. This study investigated the confidence level of BSU level IV nurse learners on advancing to staff nurse. The primary objective of this study was to determine the confidence level of the BSU level IV nurse learners on advancing to staff nurse. It also aimed to identify the learning satisfaction, the number of times skills were applied, and their correlation with confidence.
The researchers gathered data through a questionnaire among 105 respondents. Additionally, the researchers used a quantitative-correlational design to conduct this study from January to May 2022. The treatment of data used were Weighted mean and Spearman correlational.
Findings show that the nurse learners are confident with their skills to become staff nurses. It revealed that they are most confident in Fundamentals of Nursing Practice. Moreover, they are satisfied with their learning in the different nursing skills. The results also show a positive correlation between the learning satisfaction and the number of times the skills were performed to the confidence of the learners. The researchers recommended that future researchers conduct a similar study with a larger sample population for greater reliability and inclusivity.
