Abstract:
The researchers aimed to study the level of knowledge and preventive practices among BSU college students on HIV infection/AIDS as to age, sex, number of years in college and residence. The study also sought to know if there is a significant difference on the level of knowledge on HIV infection/AIDS among BSU college students when grouped according to age, sex, number of year in college and residence and if there is a significant relationship on the level of knowledge and extent of preventive practices on HIV/AIDS as to age, sex, number of year in college and residence.
The answers to these problems were sought through analysis and interpretation of gathered responses provided by three hundred eighty-six college students of BSU who were selected through convenience sampling.
A questionnaire was used as a primary tool to gather the information needed to answer the problems presented. The data gathered was subjected to statistical treatment. In analyzing and interpreting the data, weighted mean, T-test, Friedman rank test, and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient were used.
The findings revealed that the respondent’s level of knowledge and the extent of preventive practices on HIV infection/AIDS are highly knowledgeable; this implies that most of the respondents are aware on the knowledge and the extent of preventive practices regarding HIV/AIDS since they love to read articles, magazines, templates, watch documentaries, and attends seminars regarding on the basic concept of HIV/AIDS.
We recommend to maintain and enhance more their knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS through reading more articles and attends any seminars or symposium on HIV/AIDS topic.
