Abstract:
This is a descriptive study that aimed to determine the level of spirituality among inmates of Benguet Provincial Jail. It also determined the relationship of their age, civil status, length of detention, religious affiliation with regard their level of spirituality.
The study was conducted in Benguet Provincial Jail in Km. 6 La Trinidad, Benguet from October 2016 to May 2017. A total of 160 respondents were selected from Benguet Provincial Jail is moderately intense. Moreover, the researchers used the weighted mean, t-test and f-test, percentage and frequency to analyze and interpret tallied the data.
Results revealed that the level of spirituality among inmates in Benguet Provincial Jail in moderately intense. Age, civil status, length of detention and religious affiliation have significant difference on the level of spirituality among inmates of Benguet Provincial Jail.
Based on the findings, the researchers concluded that Benguet Provincial Jail is moderately intense. Age, civil status, length of detention, and religious affiliation do have a bearing on the level of spirituality.
From the conclusions, the following recommendations are offered: (1) To the respondents, (a) Benguet Provincial Jail inmates should continue to improve through high level of spirituality and encourage others to attend all spiritual activities. They should also continue to use spiritual reading materials to boost their spiritual belief for high level of spirituality; (b) share and inspire others to believe Supreme Being. Moreover, future researchers are encouraged to (a) conduct a study including other prison to validate results; (b) conduct a study using other variables.
