The posttest control group research method was used in the study. The respondents were the level I and II student nurses of College of Nursing-Benguet State University.
The study was conducted at Benguet State University in January 2012.
Findings show that there was a significant relationship between the utilization of edutainment and the level of performances of the student nurses.
Results show that the edutainment method being used and the instructors do not affect performance of the level I student nurses. On the other hand, edutainment by the type of media age-oriented was their most preferred edutainment style.
With regards to the perceived level of performance of Benguet State University student nurses from level L and level II, they were able to gain an outstanding rating. On the other hand, the use of an edutainment style is very satisfactory in the result of the following evaluation observed and tested. It is further concluded that the performance of student nurses in classroom setting is being affected by the method and instructor though it shows that it does not merely depend on instructor’s competence but also by they impart the concepts and topics in the teaching process.
In here, instructors and even other academic teachers are greatly challenged to have their own style, own technique, own way to create a more productive learning environment. Thus harmony and learning effectiveness will take place on both the listener or student and instructor or adviser.
Based on the findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are formulated: Firstly, second year nursing students should learn to change on their span of attention while learning on a classroom setting. Factors such as attitude and interest may also affect their performances. Therefore, students should focus on all the factors affecting learning for a better outcome of academic performance. Secondly, for instructors, sensitivity to student’s attention should be given a consideration and priority as inclined with the commitment and dedication in teaching service with the help of different edutainment styles. Finally, further researchers are encouraged to continue conducting a research taking into consideration the students of all the year levels of students on the students of the College of Nursing-Benguet State University as their respondents.
Thus, factors affecting clinical practice such as health teachings and nursing considerations should be involved. It is a big hope that this study will serve as a reason for further interest in the scope of educational software on students’ understanding of concepts and learning achievement.
