Abstract:
The study was conducted in order to determine the nutritional status and school performance of 4p’s elementary school children in la Trinidad, Benguet as well as the relationship between these two constructs (nutritional status and school performance).
The computed Body Mass Index (BMI) was used to determine if the students are either well-nourished or malnourished and find out whether or not it is significantly correlated with their school performance. The researchers took a sample of 120 respondents out of the total populations of 1,826 4p’s elementary beneficiaries from the different public elementary schools of la Trinidad, Benguet.
The study used the descriptive survey as well as the correlational methods of research. Its main purpose was to measure the nutritional status and school performance of 4P’s elementary school children in la Trinidad, Benguet. Data were gathered and explained through survey and questionnaire was utilized as a primary tool. All gathered data tabulated, statistically analyzed, and were analyzed with the use of T-test and was interpreted accordingly.
The T-test was used to determine whether or not the nutritional status and school performance (the general average of first and second grading period) were significantly different from what was hypothesized.)
The person correlation was used to determine the relationship between nutritional status and school performance of 4p’s elementary school children in la Trinidad, Benguet.
The finding showed that elementary school children belonging to the 4P’s in La Trinidad, Benguet are malnourished and their school performance is poor. Results also showed a significant relationship between nutritional status and school performance of 4P’s elementary school in La Trinidad, Benguet.
