Yield and Profitability of Potato Cultivar ‘Granola’ (Solanumtuberosum) Applied with Effective Microorganisms (Em4) at Various Frequency

Abstract

This study was conducted at the organic farm of Benguet State University, La Trinidad Benguet from October 2013 to January 2014 to determine the yield and profitability of potato cv. Granola, applied with effective microorganisms (EM4) at various frequencies, compare the yield and profitability of potato cv. Granola with the different treatments of application of effective microorganisms at various frequencies. The application of effective microorganisms (EM4) at various frequencies did not significantly affected the final height of plant. On the other hand, the application of effective microorganisms did not significantly affected the total yield per plot, weight of large, medium, small and marvel tubers, weight of non-marketable tubers and number of marketable tubers. Based from the results obtained, while numerical differences existed among the treatments, it was not enough to cause significant differences. Therefore, the use of effective microorganisms may not be necessary. However, it may be applied in order to correct some nutrient deficiencies caused by lack of nutrient elements.
