dc.description.abstract Nowadays, people are becoming aware of their environment. Some do segregation and recycling to help prevent environmental degradation. On a closer view, one way of doing this is not to cut a tree which unfortunately is rampant in light of producing this product which undoubtedly plays various roles in today’s transactions. This study aimed to utilize chayote fibers in paper making specifically assesses its quality characteristics and acceptability. Series of experiments were carried out to determine the quality characteristics of these fibers and the most acceptable amount of starch and chayote fiber to produce a paper. Sensory test results established that the acceptable paper is made with greater amount of fiber and lesser amount of starch in terms of texture and durability. Further study on the product, which may focus on the method of preparation of chayote fiber is recommended. en_US
