dc.description.abstract The study was conducted to compare the financial performance of the cooperatives in Kabayan, Benguet. It specifically aimed: (1) to determine the organizational profile of the cooperatives as to the date organized, area of operation, services offered and composition of members as to sex, regular and associate member and occupation of members; (2) to analyze the financial performance of the cooperatives using the PISO indicator; (3) to determine the cooperatives compliance to the government requirements; and (4) to determine the training needs and problems of these cooperatives. Only 12 cooperatives were left operational among the 14 registered cooperatives in Kabayan, Benguet as per record of Cooperative Development Authority as of December 2015. Kabayan MPC was the oldest, having 42 years of operation. It operates in a province wide membership. Majority of the cooperatives were operating in their respective barangay. The common business activities of these cooperatives were credit and consumer services. Membership of these cooperatives was dominated by female members. Some of the cooperatives do not have associate members. The increase in the number of members is very slow. Farmers are the common members of these cooperatives. The performances of these cooperatives were quite good since majority have very satisfactory performance ratings. The cooperatives are complying with most of the requirements imposed by different government units. The cooperatives have various needs that needed to be addressed by concerned organizations or by themselves. Their common identified training needs were training on bookkeeping/accounting. According to these cooperatives, they also need training on financial management, project proposal presentation and field trips to other successful cooperatives. en_US
