This study was conducted to determine the sources of financial resources of the organic farmers in sustaining their needs in organic farming, determine the sources of financial resource preferred by the organic farmers, determine the bases in choosing the source of fund, and to determine the problems met by the farmers with regards to their financial resource. Respondents were 71 organic farmers from Atok and Tublay, Benguet. Structured questionnaire was used in data gathering.
Findings show that organic vegetable growers source out their finances in various resources such as banks, cooperative and other financial sources such as grants and donations from government organizations and grants and donations from private organizations as long as it is available.
Organic farmers prefer to use their personal saving in their financial resources. Farmers prefer the financial resource which has no interest rate; no paper works required and also consider the availability of funds when needed.
The problems met by the farmers with regards to their financial resources are not enough capital, problems on the short period of time to repay their loans and the amounts offered are limited.
Based on the income of the respondents, it shows that organic farming is a good business venture because it is profitable thus; this study would provide constructive information to assist farmers in deciding where to avail funds they need. |
