Investment Practices of Market Vendors at the La Trinidad Public Market

Abstract

This study on investment practices of market vendors was conducted at the La Trinidad Public Market, Km. 5 La Trinidad Benguet from January to March 2016. It aimed to determine the types of investment, the reason in choosing the type of investment, their ways in securing safety of investment, the things the respondents consider before investing, and the problems encountered in investing. Results revealed that respondents invested in different types of investment that is available at the area and the respondents have at least two different types of investments. Further, respondents have different reasons in investing in the different types of investment. High return on investment is main reason of the respondents in investing in business establishments. Most of the respondents invested in financial institutions to secure the safety of their money. Among the reasons in investing, scam problem is one of the factors that vendors consider before investing. Respondents secure their investment by having a regular check on their savings account. Many respondents claimed that they do not encounter any problem, while there are five identified problems being encountered by other investor respondents.
