dc.description.abstract This research is concerned with the ethnography of communication manifested in selected Kankanaey tales. It sought to study the speech acts found in the dialogues in the story, the socio-cultural meanings of the tales and the levels of meaning depicted in the stories. This study was limited to the original tales of the Southern Kankanaey race of Benguet. The sources of these tales were identified as leaders of the tribe. The data were primarily gathered through interview and the immersion of the writer within the Kankanaey community. The stories gathered were translated, interpreted and analyzed. en_US
