dc.description.abstract Benguet State University (BSU), established in 1916 as an agricultural school, launched a nursing program in 1990 to meet the local demand for nursing education in the Cordilleras. The program includes courses, clinical responsibilities, related learning experiences, and simulated clinical experiences, requiring 2,703 hours of laboratory and clinical work. However, the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills presents challenges, as nurse learners often struggle to balance rigorous program requirements with personal life. This can lead to stress, missed classes, decreased attentiveness, and reduced social activities. The school aims to address these challenges and improve nursing education in the Cordilleras. Ram et al. (2019) emphasize the importance of cognitive flexibility, which involves adapting cognitive processing techniques to new situations. Windle (2010) posits resilience as a dynamic process involving compromise, adjustment, and stress management. Guo & Yu (2021) further emphasize resilience as a crucial psychological quality that helps individuals cope with trauma, adversity, and difficult circumstances. According to Ishizuka et al. (2017), it served as a protective mechanism that allowed people to prosper in the face of hardship. In the context of the study, resilience was defined as a person's ability to rise above adversity, endure challenges, and adeptly navigate difficult circumstances. Moreover, Ram et al. (2019) found that impaired cognitive flexibility and resilience were risk factors for suicidal behavior. According to the study, delivering patient-centered, flexible care required being able to adjust to new circumstances, changing medical procedures, and varied patient needs. Additionally, a 2021 study by Hoşgör and Yaman found a strong positive correlation between psychological resilience and success in the workplace. It was evident how much greater psychological toughness among nurses may increase productivity and enhance patient care. This study investigates the impact of various factors on the cognitive flexibility and resilience of nurse learners at Benguet State University. It aims to determine the degree of cognitive flexibility, explore potential disparities, and assess the resilience level of these students. The research also aims to determine if the same factors, such as sex, year level, residency, and living conditions, significantly impact resilience. The study emphasizes the importance of cognitive flexibility and resilience in nursing education, as they aid students in making decisions, adjusting to clinical scenarios, and improving patient care. Research can help develop programs that strengthen these abilities, improve stress management, and increase productivity. This knowledge can enhance teaching techniques, wellbeing, and encourage resilience-building techniques, advancing nursing research. en_US
