This study is conducted to determine the health-seeking behaviors of urban poor families in La Trinidad and to determine the level to which specified factors affect the health-seeking behavior of the respondents.
The researchers used descriptive quantitative survey method research design to meet the objectives. The researchers used a questionnaire to gather data from 27 respondents that were selected from the 270 non-Pantawid, urban poor families identified by the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction in barangays Pico, Betag, Poblacion, and Balili in La Trinidad Benguet. The data gathered was analyzed using statistical T-test.
The level of health-seeking behavior of the urban poor families in La Trinidad, Benguet in terms of monitoring health conditions, compliance to prescribed treatment, and health facility availed of by the family is not poor. The urban poor families of La Trinidad, Benguet monitor their health conditions, compliance to prescribed treatment, and health facility availed of by the family is not poor. The level to which the health-seeking behavior of the respondents in terms of adequacy of facilities and financial charges are not moderately influential, and in terms of personal traits of the respondents, it is moderately influential.
Based on the findings, the researchers formulated that the urban poor families of La Trinidad, Benguet should further enhance their health-seeking behavior and the adequacy of facilities should be upgraded in terms of accessibility of health care facility, availability of transportation, completeness and effectiveness of equipment in the facilities, and the availability of health practitioner. |
