Indigenous materials in the Philippines especially in the Cordilleras are widely used by handicraft industries and even by arts or crafts teachers. The study aims to find out the utilization of indigenous materials by Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers in the different public high school and elementary levels in La Trinidad. The study was descriptive with the questionnaire as the main data-gathering instrument. The universe of the study consisted of forty TLE teachers. All respondents’ utilized bamboo under grasses, coconut palms for palms and rattan under vines. Respondents utilize indigenous materials for teaching handicrafts not because of its versatility nor the reusability and recyclability but most of all is the preservation of our culture as compared to synthetic materials. It is recommended that the teachers utilize available indigenous materials for instruction.

Balanoy, A. D.
This research is concerned with the ethnography of communication manifested in selected Kankanaey tales. It sought to study the speech acts found in the dialogues in the story, the socio-cultural meanings of the tales and the levels of meaning depicted in the stories. This study was limited to the original tales of the Southern Kankanaey race of Benguet. The sources of these tales were identified as leaders of the tribe. The data were primarily gathered through interview and the immersion of the writer within the Kankanaey community. The stories gathered were translated, interpreted and analyzed.
