<title>Tourism in Bauko, Mountain Province</title>

This study was conducted for the following objectives: to determine the profile of tourists visiting Barangay Bagnen Proper, Barangay Bagnen Oriente and Barangay Balintaugan; to determine the tourists destinations visited by the tourists; to determine the services availed by the tourists; to   determine   the   advantages  and  disadvantages   of  tourism  in  Barangay Bagnen    Proper,   Oriente   and   Balintaugan   in  terms  of  the  socio-economic contributions; to determine rules and  regulations of the LGU and tour operators of tourism in Barangay  Bagnen Proper, Oriente and Balintaugan; to  identify  the plans/support of  the LGU during  the  promotion of tourism in Barangay Bagnen Proper, Barangay Oriente and Barangay  Balintaugan; and to   provide  documentation and  features of the different tourist destinations in Bauko, Mountain Province.&#13;
A total of 100 respondents (20 tourists, 60 residents, 10 tour guides, 10 LGUs) in Barangay Bagnen &#13;
Proper, Barangay Bagnen Oriente and Barangay Balintaugan were interviewed using questionnaires. Secondary data were obtained from the mayor’s office and from the tourist information center. The findings of the study shows that: all of the tourist mentioned that they have visited Mt. Polis which is the most popular tourist attractions in Bagnen Oriente and was rated as excellent; tourist visit Bagnen and Balintaugan primarily for friend exploration and appreciating the scenery; services availed by the tourist were the presence of visitor information and presence of personal safety; services that LGU have provided are personal safety and friendliness to the visitor; tour guides also provides personal safety and tourist information; employment as tour guides are the most advantage of tourism in the place; disadvantage is detrimental to environment; the contributions of tourism to tour guides were: having a job as a tour guide, skills developed especially in behavioral responsibilities and good leadership ability. &#13;
Tourism contributions to LGUs were: skills developed in communicating, socialization as officials, opportunities in creating projects; tour guides are always informing the tourist to be alert during the trek because of some dangerous ways; LGUs always reminding tour guides to share what tourists wants to know, to speak in a way that tourist can understand, to be always alert in unexpected accidents, those be always ready and bring of those personal needs, to be always responsible and managing the time properly. Plans of the LGUs to improve tourism industry in Bauko, Mt. Province are the improvement of facilities, obeying tourism ordinance, making more tourism packages, implementing tourism projects and encouraging also businessmen’s for DOT accreditations. Plans/supports of the LGUs in the promotion of tourism in are the development of tourist destinations and improvements of roads, services and facilities. Promotion like creating packages of Bauko Tourism information and making tourism activities like festivals (fiestas).

This study was conducted to determine the tourist attraction that is most visited by tourists, and their respective ratings, to determine the tour packages mostly availed by the tourists and their ratings, and to determine the comments and suggestions of tourists towards tourist attractions and tour packages of Sagada, Mountain Province.&#13;
	The study was conducted in Sagada, Mountain Province from December 2015 to January 2016. The study has a total of 150 respondents composed of 116 domestic tourists and 34 foreign tourists. Survey questionnaires were used as a primary tool to gather data. The data was tabulated, then analyzed trough frequency, percentage, weighted mean and ranking.&#13;
	Results revealed that majority of the domestic tourists were from the National Capital Region (NCR) while the foreign tourists were mostly came from Europe. The oldest of the tourists was 61 years old while the youngest was 14 years old. The mean age of the respondents was 29. All of the respondents acquired formal education; majority of them were non-government employee. &#13;
	Most of the tourists visited Hanging coffins and Sumaguing cave. The highest total weighted mean rating was Cave connection. Most of the tourists availed Echo valley packages and Cave connection which has the highest rated mean. Garbage was the most commented the tourists towards the attractions and majority suggested that garbage should be cleaned in every attraction. Tourists commented that some of the tour package are easy to access but at expensive rates. Respondents suggested to come up with a package price comprising all the tourist attractions.

<summary type="text">Satisfaction Towards Tourism Attractions in Sagada, Mountain Province

The study was conducted in the municipality of Sagada, Mountain Province from December 2015 to January 2016. It aimed to identify the tourist’s demographic profile, the most visited tourist destinations, the types of tourists visiting the destination, their sources of information, the problems encountered in the area of destination and their level of satisfaction on the different attractions focusing on the components of tourism. The study involved two groups of respondents such as the domestic and foreign tourists.&#13;
	Majority of the domestic and foreign tourist are young people. Majority of the domestic tourists are female while among the foreign tourists majority of them are male.	The most visited tourist destinations are the Sumaguing and Lumiang caves and the Hanging coffins. Adventure tourists is the main type of tourist visiting the place. The sources of information about the area of destination for domestic tourists are through word of mouth and the internet while for foreign tourists is from the internet.&#13;
	The problems encountered in the area of destination are the lack of accommodation facilities, public comfort rooms, unsanitary surroundings and the opportunistic business owners. &#13;
Moreover findings on the level of satisfaction showed that tourists are satisfied with the different destinations in Sagada in terms of attractions, amenities, activities and accessibility particularly for Kiltepan Tower, Bomod-ok Falls and Sagada Rice Terraces.

Tourism plays a huge role in development. Tourist demands have gigantic impacts economic, environmental, and social levels of the society.&#13;
The Philippine, being endowed with natural resources and its people exhibiting a myriad of amalgamated culture has seen the flourishing of tourism. Hence, the country capitalized on this as a business. The Department of Tourism currently recorded a tourist volume’s increase of 5.37% for 2010 vis-à-vis the same period in 2009 (http://www.wowphilippines.com.ph).&#13;
Many provinces in the archipelago have made their marks in the map as tourist hotspots. Palawan, Cebu, and Baguio City to name a few have become very popular tourist destinations. The success of tourism in these places had apparently greatly contributed to community development. The case is similar with the municipality of Sagada. It is but a fifth class municipality in the northern part of Mountain Province yet it has experienced noticeable development changes lately because of the tourism industry that has rapidly boomed over the years. For several decades, Sagada has been attracting thousands of tourists not just from the archipelago but the globe as a whole. It has been a hotspot for visitors who are into adventure, sports, nature challenges, cultural experience and for those who would like to have their own doze of country living. Approximately 24,000 tourists, both foreign and local, frequent this place annually (tourist Information Center, 2007) Because of the influx of these tourists, the townspeople had been clamoring to make their own livelihood activities that are tourism-related.&#13;
This research is about exploring the tourism industry of Sagada, Mountain Province, focusing on the industry’s current status.&#13;
Specifically, it aimed to answer the following questions:&#13;
1.	What is the status of the tourism industry of Sagada, Mountain Province as to:&#13;
a.	programs, policies and projects&#13;
b.	tourism-related establishments&#13;
c.	revenue and employment generated&#13;
d.	Butler’s Life Cycle Theory&#13;

2.	What are the problems encountered by the tourism industry in terms of the following aspects:&#13;
a.	economic&#13;
b.	socio-cultural&#13;
c.	environment&#13;
&#13;
3.	What programs may be development to uplift the tourism industry of the municipality of Sagada?&#13;
Data to answer these research problems were obtained using interview questionnaires for individual interviews and the focus group discussion, document analysis and participant observation. These were then analyzed and interpreted by utilizing the SWOT analysis.
